Forget digging out the pits of lemons before you serve them as garnishes, at least for half the year. A new breed of seedless lemon, developed by a farmer in Australia who studied thousands of strains of lemons, is now being grown in California. It is in season from November through May. The Wonderful Company, which also produces Pom Wonderful pomegranate juice, is selling them by the pound (5 lemons) at many supermarket chains nationwide. They’re on the small side and yield about 3 tablespoons of juice.
Wonderful Seedless Lemons, $3.49 to $3.99 a pound. wonderfulseedlesslemons.com.
