Tide signees make All-State teams - 247Sports

Several Alabama signees and one Crimson Tide commit made the ASWA All-State football teams. Here's a look:

Class 7A:

First Team

Offense:

Javion Cohen, 4-star OT, Phenix City (Ala.) Central

Defense:

Malachi Moore, 4-star S, Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt-Trussville -- 83 tackles, including five tackles for a loss, eight pass breakups, four interceptions, two of which went for touchdowns

Athlete:

Demouy Kennedy, 4-star ILB, Theodore (Ala.) -- 73 tackles, including six tackles for a loss, two pass breakups, two interceptions, and one pick-six

Class 6A:

First Team

Offense:

Roydell Williams, 4-star RB, Hueytown (Ala.) -- 184 carries for 1,289 yards and 24 touchdowns; 22 receptions for 334 yards, and two touchdowns

Defense:

Jackson Bratton, 4-star ILB, Muscle Shoals (Ala.) -- 126 tackles, including 13 tackles for loss, seven sacks, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, five pass breakups, and two touchdowns

Honorable mention:

Jayson Jones, 4-star DT, Calera (Ala.) -- 52.5 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and one fumble recovery

Class 1A:

Offense:

Jah-Marien Latham, 4-star DT, Reform (Ala.) Pickens County -- 65 tackles, including 25 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, and forced fumble

Athlete:

Kristian Story, 4-star ATH, Lanett (Ala.) -- 171 of 293 passing for 2,847 yards and 35 touchdowns and four interceptions; 122 carries for 1,211 yards and 17 touchdowns; 71 tackles and five interceptions

Nick Saban was asked about the importance of in-state recruiting in his post Early Signing Day press conference: 

“Well, it’s always important to do well in state. It’s always important to do well in a five-hour radius. We want to get every Alabama player that we can. I think it means a lot to them when they come to Alabama and I think that’s an important part to the spirit of your team and I feel good about the guys from the state that we have. Hopefully, I know those guys are excited about coming here, and hopefully, we’ll develop those guys and they’ll be very productive and be a big part of the spirit of this class.”
